Western New York Flash forward Sydney Leroux will undergo surgery on her right ankle to remove an accessory bone that has caused irritation. The bone has caused irritation over the past six months and was a possibility prior to the World Cup.
Leroux will be sidelined three months and will miss the remainder of the NWSL season. The 25-year-old has only suited up in three matches for the Flash after being acquired just before the start of the season. She will also miss several matches on the U.S. team’s 10-game Victory tour. She played in four games in the World Cup and picked up an assist on Christen Press’ game-winning-goal against Australia in the group stage.
