By the Numbers: 2014 regular season

The 2014 NWSL season saw the ninth NWSL franchise and first expansion side Houston come into the league. It saw three of the four top goal scorers make their debut in 2014. Seattle did a complete turnaround, leading the league from start to finish. With the NWSL postseason upon us, here is a look at some of the numbers that stood out during the 2014 season.

16 – Number of goals scored by Kim Little in her first NWSL season (eclipsing 2013 Golden Boot winner Lauren Holiday’s 12),

16 – The number of games the Reign stayed unbeaten in 2014

19 – The number of points separating first and fourth place

20 – The number of players representing the University of North Carolina in the league

23 – The number of draws in the 2014 season

23 – The number of international players (excluding CAN or MEX players) spread across the league

24 – Total number of games missed this season by forwards Alex Morgan (10) and Abby Wambach (14)
