In a match up of winless teams, the Houston Dash are looking to bounce back against the Boston Breakers after losing their inaugural match, 1-0, to Portland Thorns FC.
Boston are also looking to improve in their home opener after a 3-0 defeat to Seattle.
Even after dominating possession against the Thorns, forward Ella Masar failed to register a shot against Thorns goalkeeper Nadine Angerer. The Dash will be looking to improve connecting their play to the attacking third against Boston keeper Alyssa Naeher.
Naeher had a great performance in Boston’s loss against the Reign making seven saves on 10 shots.
Houston’s back line proved that goals are hard to come by against the Dash after allowing only five shots against the Thorns.
For Houston, Brittany Bock is out with a left ACL tear and will miss the remainder of the 2014 season. Kealia Ohai will miss the Boston match after sustaining a high ankle sprain in last weekend’s season opener against Portland. Ohai suffered the injury early in the season opener but remained in the match until the 58th minute.
Boston will be missing Kristie Mewis, who was seen at the Breakers’ media day and uniform unveiling in a walking boot for a right ankle sprain.
