Kansas City inks Hagen

FC Kansas City has signed forward Sarah Hagen, the team announced March 20.

Hagen will join Kansas City in June after the conclusion of her season with Germany’s FC Bayern München.

Sarah HagenHagen was a standout during her four years at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she scored 93 goals and tallied 26 assists in 86 games.

“There’s a reason why Sarah Hagen is seen as one of this country’s top prospects,” Huw Williams, Director of Soccer Operations said. “She had an outstanding collegiate career before going to Bayern to hone her craft. She has the potential to be a difference maker in this league, and we are excited she will be doing it in Kansas City.”

A prolific goal scorer, Hagen will be a viable asset for FC Kansas City’s attack alongside United States internationals Amy Rodriguez and Lauren Holiday.

The Appleton Wis., native, made her U.S. senior team debut March 10 in a 1-0 loss to Sweden during the Algarve Cup.

Hagen began her professional career with Bayern München in 2012 and has scored 28 goals in 47 matches with the club.

“I’m extremely excited to join FC Kansas City in June for the remainder of their season. I’ve had such a great experience here at Bayern,” Hagen said. “However, I’ve also made many sacrifices by choosing to be thousands of miles away from my family and friends. For me, this is the biggest reason in returning back to the States to play. I’m still very much focused on finishing out my season here with Bayern, but am also looking forward to starting a new chapter in my career at Kansas City.”
