Portland Thorns Officially Sign Amber Brooks, Waive Elizabeth Guess and Adelaide Gay

Portland Thorns FC announced earlier today that the club has signed midfielder Amber Brooks.  The signing comes after Brooks announced that she would be leaving German club Bayern Munich in December.

The New Hope, Penn. native, was drafted by Portland in the third round of the 2013 NWSL College Draft but had already signed for the German club Bayern.

The 22-year-old made her U.S. Women’s National Team debut Nov. 10 in a 4-1 victory over Brazil.

In addition the team released goalkeeper Adelaide Gay and midfielder Elizabeth Guess.

Guess made two appearances for the Thorns, after being drafted as a discovery player for the Boston Breakers and signed off waivers by Portland on April 24.

Gay, who was also drafted as a discovery player, did not make an appearance for the club.
